Think you have what it takes to make the 2011-2012 Slam Nahuatl Team?

Each year, poets compete to join award-winning Slam Nahuatl and travel the nation to compete in national poetry competitions including the PSi National Poetry Slam, Southern Fried, and CUPSI.

What do you need to do to make the team?

Adult Team (21+)

To make the adult team, poets must go through the following rigorous process:

1) Compete in a number of End Hunger Poetry Slams and accumlate enough points to finish in the top 10.
3) Finish in the top 5 in the championship slam.

*Note, there are 6 total slams to qualify for the championship slam.

College Team (Must be a VCU student)

1) Compete in a number of VCU Ram Slams and accumlate enough points to finish in the top 10.
3) Finish in the top 5 in the championship slam.

*Note, there are 6 total slams to qualify for the championship slam.

What do I need to do to slam?

The first 15 poets to sign up compete, so please show up at least 15 minutes early. For the End Hunger Slam, competing poets must pay $5, so the first 15 poets to pay either online or in person qualify. Other than that, to compete you need to have at least 3 poems that are your original works. That’s it.

If you are interested in competing, please contact us and we can provide you with more details.
